NDA Postgraduate Requirements for Full-Time Programmes

The requirements for the various NDA Postgraduate full-time programs are as follows;

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree

A candidate for PhD Degree must poseess a minimum of Second Class Honours(Lower Division) at Bachelor Degree and a Master’s Degree in proposed field of study from a recognized University. 
In Addition, the candidate must have scores an average of not less than 60% or 3.50% at the Masters level.

Masters (MA, M.Eng and MLSc) Degrees

A candidate seeking admission into the Master’s Degree programme shall be a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy or any other recognised university. Such candidate must possess a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in relevant field of study

DURATION OF NDA POSTGRADUATE FULL-TIME PROGRAMME

Each student admitted for the PhD or Master’s Degree must Pursue a FULL-TIME course of study and research in the Academy. Depending on the fegree in view, the following conditions are also applicable.

A student in for the Master’s degree shall pursue the programme for 2 years (4 semesters)

Candidates for PhD Degree shall pursue the programme for 3 years (6 semesters). At the expiration of the period of study for any given programme, a student shall be withdrawn from the academy.

However, on exceptional circumstances, application for extension to complete the program may be entertained.

Extension shall not exceed a period of one year (2 semesters) in case of Master’s degree and 2 years (4 semesters) in case of PhD.

Requirements for NDA Professional Courses

The requirements for the various programs are as follows;

  1. Master’s Degree:
    1. Candidates applying for the part-time programmes must possess a Bachelor degree with a minimum of Second-Class Honours (Lower Division). Candidates with Third Class degree or Higher National Diploma must also possess a Postgraduate Diploma at credit level in a related discipline from any recognised University to be eligible for admission. HND candidates must possess a minimum of Lower Credit to apply
  2. PGD Programmes:
    1. Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma programme must possess a minimum of Third-Class Bachelor’s degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy or any other recognised University, or Higher National Diploma at a minimum of Lower Credit.
  3. Duration Of Programmes:
    1. A student for Master degree shall pursue the programme for 18 months (2 semesters course work and 1 semester for project.
    2. A student for Postgraduate diploma shall pursue the programme for twelve months (2 semesters) except engineering courses which runs for 24 months (4 semesters).
  4. General Information:
    1. Professional master degree and postgraduate diploma Programmes are delivered on Fridays and Saturdays.
    2. The Academy reserves the right to step down any programme prior to commencement without notice.

DURATION

The duration of professional programmes are as follows:

a. A student for Master degree shall pursue the programme for 18 months (2 semesters course work and 1 semester for project) except MBA programme which runs for 2 years.

b. A student for Postgraduate diploma shall pursue the programme for one year (2 semesters) except engineering courses which runs for 2 years.

c. Professional master degree and postgraduate diploma programmes are delivered on Fridays and Saturdays.

How to Apply for NDA Postgraduate Admission

Register your account(Step 1)

  1. To begin the process Click here or follow this link https://spgs.nda.edu.ng/register
  2. Provide your name, email and password
  3. Check your email inbox and click on the verification link sent to you to activate your account
  4. Note: You will not be able to proceed until you have verified your email

Make your payment (Step 2)

  1. Login to your application portal by providing the email and password in step 1 here
  2. Click on “payments”
  3. You will be redirected to the payment page where you will make your payment
  4. use any of the available payment options “Card” or “Bank Transfer” and complete the payment process
  5. You will be rediected from the payment page back to the portal
  6. Click on payment again after you have been redirected and you will see your receipt

Update Profile (Step 3)

  1. Login to your application portal using your email and password
  2. Click on “Profile”
  3. Then click on “Bio-data”
  4. Provide your “Date of Birth”, “Phone Number”, “Gender”, “Marital Status” and upload your “Passport Photograph”
  5. Click on “Submit Biodata”
  6. Next, click on “Contact Details”
  7. Provide your contact address and permanent home address
  8. Click on “Save Contact Details”
  9. Next, click on “Update Personal Details”
  10. Provide your full name, Nationality, State, Local Government, and Home town
  11. Click on “Save Personal Details”

Choose Your Prefered Programme (Step 4)

  1. To check available courses, click here
  2. Login to your application portal using your email and password
  3. Click on “Academics”
  4. Next, click on “Select Programme”
  5. Select faculty, department, and programme
  6. Select the appropriate service records (This section is for serving Military Personnel alone), ignore if you are not one.
  7. Click on “Save Programme Details”

Provide O’Level Result details (Step 5)

  1. (a) Click on “Academics”
  2. (b) Click on “Add O’level Result”
  3. (c) Select “Exam Body”, “Examination type”, and “Examination year”
  4. (d) Choose sitting “first” or “second” (Note: you can only upload two sittings)
  5. (e) Provide your grade for “English Language” and “Mathematics”
  6. (f) Provide three other relevant subjects and their grades
  7. (g) Click on “Submit O level result”
  8. Repeat steps (b) to (g) above to upload your second sitting. (Note: remember to choose “second sitting”)

Add O’Level Verication Cards (Step 6)

  1. You are required to upload an O Level verification card for each sitting you have uploaded
  2. Click on “Academics”
  3. Then click on “Add Verification Cards”
  4. Specify the exam details, card pin, and card serial number
  5. Choose the sitting “first” or “second”
  6. Click on “Submit Verification Card”
  7. Follow the process above for the “second” sitting

Add Referees (Step 7)

  1. You need a minimum of two referees
  2. Click on “Referee”
  3. Provide Referee’s name
  4. Provide Referee’s valid e-mail
  5. Note: Your referee will get an email with a link to fill in the online referee form that will take only two minutes to fill.
  6. Click on “Submit Confidential Referee”
  7. Follow the process above to add the second referee
  8. Note: You will be able to delete and add another referee provided any of your nominated referees has not responded
  9. Note: You will be able to check if they have responded or not on the same page below

Provide Your Academic qualifications (Step 8)

  1. Click on “Qualifications”
  2. Next, click on “School”
  3. Provide “Certificate Type”, “Awarding Institution”, “Qualification Obtained”, “Class”, and “Year Obtained”
  4. Click on “Save”
  5. Follow the above steps to add all your academic qualifications

Provide your professional qualifications (Step 9)

  1. Click on “Qualifications”
  2. Next, click on “Professional”
  3. Provide “Certificate Type”, “Awarding Institution”, “Qualification Obtained”, “Certificate Number (No)”, “Issue Date”, and “Expiry Date”
  4. Click on “Save”
  5. Follow the above steps to add all your professional qualifications

Preview your application form (Step 10)

  1. Note: You will not be allowed to preview your application form until the following have been provided:
    1. You have made payment
    2. You have provided everything in the Profile section
    3. You have uploaded at least one O’level sitting
    4. You have provided O’level verification cards for all uploaded O Level exam sittings
    5. You have provided at least two referees, and all of them have responded (please remove and add other referees as the need may be)
    6. You have provided at least two academic qualifications
    7. You have provided uploads (if required)
  2. After Preview, you can go back to edit any section that is in error

Submit Your Form (Step 11)

  1. To submit your form
  2. Click on “Submit Form”
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the submission process
  4. Note: You cannot make any changes to your application form after you have submitted. You are therefore advised to check and recheck to correct any wrong details before submission
