KASU Increases Tuition Fee, Some To Pay As High As N500,000 From N26, 000

According to SaharaReporters, the Kaduna State Government has reviewed the tuition fees of the State University (KASU) from N24,000 and N26,000 to as high as N150,000 and some N500,000 respectively.

According to sources, students-both indigenous and non-indigenous-are affected by the increase in tuition fees.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai He, said: “The Kaduna State Government has adjusted the tuition fees of this state university from N24,000 and N26,000 to N150,000 and N500,000, respectively.

SaharaReporters observed from the student’s fee payment slip that some people paid approximately N100,000 to the bank account of Kaduna State university.

According to the government statement issued after the meeting, Balarabe said that although it was painful, it was necessary.

“This is the only way for the agency to make ends meet.

“We understand the pain; we are also pained but sometimes, some decisions are taken for the betterment of the generality of the people,” he said.

He explained that the interest rate hike is to make the university a first-class university, and “we want you to be proud of being in one of the best schools.

” We hope that the students of Kaduna State University can walk with their heads no matter where they are. , And proud to represent the country.

“Balarabe further stated that the state government is spending about N5 billion for the university because the N26,000 paid by the students is not enough to cover the three-month lecture fee.

Also speaking during the conference, Secretary of State (SSG) Malam Balarabe Lawal pointed out that due to insufficient funds, the country’s university education is collapsing.

He said, “There are elementary schools in the state that charge N100,000 as tuition fees.

“On May 26, 2021, students held a peaceful protest on the university campus, saying that many of them could not afford the new tuition.
