In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??

It means, an additional requirement for a particular course in a particular school. If your school have a special consideration for either O’level Requirement, UTME Subject Combination or Direct Entry Requirement, then please take note of it.

Note sometimes in the special consideration column, the school requirement might be slight different from the general requirement. We advise you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course. ITS NECESSARY else you might be denied admission.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR IGBO

Below is the UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for IGBO in faculty of Arts and Humanities.

  • English Language(*), Igbo and two (2) subjects from Arts and social Sciences.

Please note that the JAMB subject combination above is same for courses like; Linguistics and African Languages, Igbo/Linguistics, African/Asian Studies, Linguisitcs, Igbo/ and Other African languages.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • UNIZIK accepts Chinese in lieu of Igbo.
  • UNN requires Igbo or any other Language and any other two (2) subjects. For Linguistics (Option), requires Literature in English and two (2) other subjects.
  • LAGOS requires English Language and any three Arts, Science or Social Sciences.

O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR IGBO

Below is the UTME Requirement for IGBO in faculty of Arts and Humanities

  • Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Igbo, English Language and any other Arts subject.

Please note that the UTME requirement above is same for courses like; Linguistics and African Languages, Igbo/Linguistics, African/Asian Studies, Linguistics, Igbo/ and Other African languages.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • IBADAN requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one or two (2) sitting to include English Language and two (2) other Arts subjects one of which must be Igbo.
  • OAU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, one Arts subject and three (3) other subjects from Sciences, Social Sciences or Arts.
  • UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English language and one Science subject.  Candidates for Linguistics must possess ‘O’ Level credit pass in Literature in English while candidates for linguistics and Nigerian Language must posses ‘O’ Level credit pass in the Nigerian language to be combined with linguistics.
  • LAGOS requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three Arts, Science or Social Sciences. Social Studies and Civic Education are also accepted

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR IGBO

Below is the Direct Entry (DE) Requirement for IGBO in faculty of Arts and Humanities.

  • Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Igbo and one (2)Arts/Social Sciences subject.
  • NCE in Igbo and one Arts subject.

Please note that the Direct Entry requirement above is same for courses like; Linguistics and African Languages, Igbo/Linguistics, African/Asian Studies, Linguisitcs, Igbo/ and Other African languages.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • IBADAN accepts NCE merit/credit in Igbo and another Arts or Social Sciences. Accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject.
  • IMSU accepts ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit.
  • UNN accepts ‘A’ Level passes or NCE merit in at least one Language and one other subject plus the UTME requirements.
  • LAGOS accepts Very good passes in three JUPEB/A’ Level subjects in Igbo/Yoruba and any two of History, CRS/IRS, French, Government, Music, Visual Arts and Literature-in-English. NCE (Merit) in two subjects to include a Nigerian Language. LASU Diploma in Communication Arts.
