Corps member produces, donates 100 handwashing soaps

A member of the National Youth Service Corps in Ogun State, Adefisoye Joseph, has produced and donated 100 pieces of handwashing liquid soaps to the state government to assist under its COVID-19 programme.

According to the NYSC on Monday, Joseph, with State Code, OG/19B/7322, made the production and donation in Abeokuta, the state capital, and they were received by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker.

In his remarks, Joseph noted that he used N10,000 out of his monthly allowance to buy the materials needed for the production of the soaps, while thanking the NYSC Ogun State Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme which enabled him to learn the soap making vocational skills.

“This is the best time to use the skills I have acquired from the SAED Programme to give back to society,” he noted.

Coker appreciated the selfless act of the corps member, adding that his donation would go a long way in supporting the state government’s efforts towards the fight against coronavirus pandemic.

The commissioner added that the recipients of the liquid soaps were expected to apply it to wash their hands regularly, thereby preventing them from contracting COVID-19.
